THE PIEDMONT: most abundant area for cattle

There are many cattle breeds. Early settlers brought cows to North Carolina. Though the different types of cattle come from various parts of the world, they are all currently farmed in North Carolina. Some areas of the state have more cattle than others. Cattle tend to be most abundant in areas where grass can grow better than crops. Overall, North Carolina has a fairly mild climate that makes it ideal for cattle. When the weather is hazardous, cows often take shelter in barns or a grove of trees. When the weather is extremely cold, farmers supply the cows with more food to keep up their energy levels.
